After 10 years in the wasteland of Dallas, Texas, a technology marketing writer in her thirties leaves it all and moves back to God’s country. Will she become soggy in the incessant rain? Will she find her dream job? Will she return in one piece from her pilgrimage to India?

Glued I am! I look forward to following along on your journeys by checking in here now and then…I can’t wait to hear about your trip to India. You must have someone trustworthy to take care of your cat? Welcome, in advance, to the beautiful–if soggy–Pacific Northwest, where we must have 5,000 shades of green!

Thanks, Brooke! Yes, she’s staying with Robert & Donna, my friends in Bellevue who I’ll be staying with while I look for work. Donna is going to India with us, but Robert has agreed to take care of Zsa Zsa.

I am sooo excited to have you here in Seattle! You will be arriving during the best time of year, and I look forward to sharing good times with you. I will see you in exactly one week!

Dear Lori,
I am sooooo happy to see your acceptance at whatever move you are about to do. Everytime I read what you are writting, it all reminds of impermanance, detachment, etc.
I wish you a wonderful trip in India, and of course my very best wishes for your new life in Seatle.

Lori,
Hi! I doubt you remember me but I met you at the Turner House in Dallas. I’m the guy that owns the house at 330 S. Montclair. I somehow stumbled across your blog while looking for the Winnetka Height’s Gazette so I thought I would say hi.
Anyway, I’m still living in Austin and working at the University. In early June, I visited Seattle for the first time and really enjoyed my trip. The first stop was Pikes Market where they have a lot of interesting stores. I also took the ferry to Bainbridge Island which was a fun short trip. You’ll probably also want to check out the Chittingham Locks and salmon ladders.
It’s still raining here in Texas. There’s a lot of flooding everywhere. Good luck on all your new adventures; I know you’ll love Seattle.
CIAO,
Troy Johnson

Hi Private Benjamin/Nibbler:
Send some of that Seattle rain back to Dallas please. …or at least down to the N. CA wildfires. Brad B. called me from Virginia a few days just to rub in the fact that it was only 80 degrees. I also spoke to Virginia who’s spending time in Alaska right now.

Tod – Not much rain this week — lots of sun! People tell me that “dependable” summer weather begins here after July 5th. I feel for all you Texans — really, I do. I had to keep reminding myself how lucky I was all through June, when it was 98 in TX and 50s here. Brrrr.
Virginia in AK? Tell her hello!
